I promised my best friend the bachelor party of a lifetime. Went the whole nine yards, throwing a bag over his head and ‘abducting’ him from a bar.
One thing I didn’t plan for? His long-lost and dangerous twin brother…
Over the course of one night, I drag the man I think is my bestie around the city’s hottest spots. We face off in laser tag, bust out of an escape room in record time, and raid the best food trucks, all before tearing up the dance floor in a club.
How long does it take me to realize I’ve got the wrong man? I’m so glad you asked.
Freaking hours. And for whatever crazy reason, this mad man plays along.
But even if we have the most fun night of my life, I can’t let my guard down. This isn’t some innocent mistake.
Because this wrong twin is dangerous. He’s a cold-blooded killer.
And he looks at me like he’ll never let go…
Accidentally Kidnapping the Hitman is a short and steamy instalove novella, starring a morally gray hero and the soulmate who literally bags her man.

Fun with that insta-love sparkle

I was absolutely taken by the blurb of this new book by Cassie Mint – it sounded like an absolute hoot and I couldn’t wait to read. It’s part of a larger, multi-author series all where the heroine ‘accidentally’ kidnaps someone or the other. This is the fifth book in the series and I saw no link to any of the previous or those still to come. This one comes with its own happily ever after and stands completely alone.
Despite the cute blurb, I admit I did wonder as to why a big, scary hitman would allow a random woman to drag him all through town – and wearing a pink feather boa, no less. But there is a connection between the hero and heroine of this story, prior to the mistaken identity that starts their night of fun. Now I’m not one that requires my insta-love stories to be completely realistic but for some reason, I was glad of this fact.
Our heroine, Annie, is a bundle of fun, determined to give her normally uptight best friend, the best bachelor party ever. But she’s not daft – and I liked that she had suspicions about the identity of the man she previously assumed was her gay bestie. And finally – finally – a girl that has the appropriate response when she realises that the man she’s with just might be dangerous. But I liked her and that’s what counts.
“It left me with that delightful giddiness…”
Dean is our hitman hero. And sure, being a hitman might not be the most prince charming-ish of occupations for a hero – but it works. Dean is a strong, tough guy but he has morals and he lets Annie get away with plenty, proving that he’s really just a big teddy bear with a gun and knife. But I liked him and was rooting for him.
Despite knowing each other for most of their lives, our couple do fall for each other hard and quickly. They’ve got chemistry aplenty and it’s sexy and hot. And despite everything – mostly the hitman thing – they’re so cute together. I really liked them as a couple and was cheering for them all the way.
This is a cute and fun story that’s not meant to be taken all that seriously. But I really enjoyed it and devoured the book over my lunch. It left me with that delightful giddiness from reading a fun, sexy and romantic story with that insta-love sparkle that Ms Mint always brings. 5 stars.
