A romantic adventurous romp
I am delighted to be returning to Sarah Ready’s wonderfully romantic world of Romeo and her Soul Mates in Romeo series. This story introduces us to a brand new couple who haven’t appeared in the earlier books although we do get some cameos from previous couples and, of course, the town’s resident love predictor, Miss Erma. For those who are new to the series, fear not, this book stands completely alone and comes complete with its own (delightful) HEA.
We start off in the past with a quick flashback to a younger Emma and Andrew. And then move through the years with a quick run through of who Andrew has become and the reasons why. Then we’re back in the present and straight into our tale and the romance.
Emma is our heroine and she is the sweetest, kindest person you could imagine. But she’s got a backbone, too. She knows what she wants and she’s not afraid to go after it. I couldn’t help but admire her optimistic attitude and she was the perfect addition to the town of Romeo. Her love for Andrew never wavered and it was so sweet to see her paired with the bitter and broken man he’d become.

Now to Andrew and please wait while I first perform some dreamy sighs. This is the kind of hero that I am 100% here for in a romance. He’s angry and bitter – broken by more than just his recent experiences. That he wants to destroy Emma is a minor blip because man, does he ever just need a hug from a good woman. I felt his angsty emotion all the way to my tippy toes and I fell in love from the first moment.
This story didn’t actually go the way I expected it would. Not in a bad way, I just assumed I knew what the conflict would be and I was wrong. There was still the age old element of ‘will they work it out in time?’ and how would they get through this to their happily ever after. I enjoyed the fact that even with all the distrust, both Emma and Andrew were very rational during all the mishaps you would expect to break them apart. That helped show me these two really loved each other and believed they were the others soul mate.
They also have a great friendship, great chemistry and gorgeous sexual connection. I do enjoy a bit of sex in my stories and this had the bonus of both sweetness and the ‘throw them up against the wall must have them now’ kind.
This book gave me the lovely vibes of films such as Romancing the Stone – a delightful mix of romance and treasure hunting culminating in a deliciously adventurous romantic romp. I am a huge fan of this series and more so of Sarah Ready’s writing. She’s got such a fun and engaging style that I devoured this book and can’t wait for this series to continue. 5 stars and hugely recommended.
