Crash and burn.
That describes Taylorās dating life in a nutshell.
Why canāt she find a man who can hold her interest all the way through her five date rule?
It always fizzles out and sheās left fantasizing about one man.
Cooper Hathaway.
Handsome. Intelligent. Sexy.
Forbidden.
Sheās so attracted to him she canāt think straight. Every man she meets pales in comparison. But Taylor knows she canāt have him. Not if she wants her life turned upside down. Her mission is clear. She needs to find a sex buddy. The friends-with-benefits, no-strings-attached kind. One she can ditch when she finally finds a man who measures up.
One who can take her mind off Cooper.
Cooper has other ideas. Friends with benefits? No way. He is on a mission himself – to show Taylor that only he can satisfy her. Their chemistry is nothing short of incendiary and he sets out to convince Taylor that she does not need anyone else but him. If there is one thing about Cooper, itās that what he wants, he gets.
Game on.

Fun and readable

This is the first book Iāve read by Beverly Havlir but it sounded cute, quirky and too fun to pass up. And for the most part, thatās exactly what you get when you pick up this book.
The blurb obviously lets you know what to expect but I didnāt realise that our couple didnāt really know each other at the beginning of the novel. Not that this is an issue – I just assumed that our pair were friends first. It put a different spin on the story and what I expected from it.
The first two pages of the book were very ropey. The minute I started reading I wasnāt sure that I could continue as the dialogue was, well, a bit cringe! But by the third page (seriously, it was that quick) I felt the author got over her nerves and things started to flow and fall into place. After that, not once did I experience that same feeling as those first 2 pages! I enjoyed the writing from then on and felt it kept me interested in both the story and the characters from beginning to end. Once I started, I was hooked.
I really loved the journey of Cooper and Taylorās relationship. The way that it seamlessly went from ānothing will ever happenā to āfriends-with-benefitsā to something so much more. I loved the way that it felt that Taylor didnāt seem to realise the evolution until she was in too deep, while Cooper was enjoying things too much to rock the boat and maybe put a stop to what he really wanted.
“I wasnāt expecting the filthiness and sexy shenanigans that this book gave me.”
Cooper was a nicely alpha billionaire with control issues. Heās cold and grumpy enough to make my girl parts happy – but the way he really appreciates and enjoys Taylor, and is a bit of a big teddy bear around her, is what I really love in a hero. And for once, my idea of Cooper definitely matched the cover model. Mmmm hmmm.
At first I wasnāt sure Iād like Taylor, if Iām honest. Sheās gorgeous and has no trouble getting men – just finding a man up to her exacting standards. Sheās pretty much perfect. Can you see why I wouldnāt like her? But gah – I ended up liking her after all. Sheās a wee bit neurotic and manages to find herself in situations she didnāt really plan for and that I can relate to! Plus, she goes in to everything with her full heart and you canāt help but appreciate that.
Together the pair had hella chemistry. I wasnāt expecting the filthiness and sexy shenanigans that this book gave me. I love myself a dirty talker and Cooper liked it dirty. There was enough sex to keep me very happy indeed. Okay, there was some very minor anal probing which is so not my jam – but I skipped over that since it was only once. Hardly worth mentioning – yet here we are!
Once I got started, I really enjoyed this book. It was an interesting story with fun characters and good writing. Iāll probably check out Emily and Devlin’s book, Educating Emily (donāt worry, they stand alone from each other) and Iāll watch out for anything Ms Havlir writes in the future. 4 stars from me!
