Cute and fun insta-love story
Having read the previous book in this series (A Very Grumpy Marine), I was very much looking forward to reading the story of that hero’s brother. While each book does stand alone, all taking place in the small town of Wolf Valley, there are bound to be some crossover, Camden from A Very Grumpy Marine does appear in this book, and they discuss Camden’s other half, Lymric.
In the previous book, the epilogue shows Kye scoffing at the idea of seeing someone and immediately falling hard and fast for that person. It’s even more ridiculous since he’s a loner who prefers to stay at his home in the mountains, only coming to town to see his brother. So as soon as this book stars, we know he’s about to be proven very, very wrong.
The woman to do just that is Sienna. New in town, and a little lost, curvy Sienna is delighted when super-hot Kye offers her a job. Despite her crush on him, she assumes he’s way out of her league – and it’s probably not the best idea to date her boss. Sienna is a sweet little thing and it was easy to root for her although I would have liked to know more about her.

As soon as Kye sees Sienna, he knows he has to do something to get her to spend time with him. So he invents a job, well – a whole company, in order to keep her near him. While he’s typical of an insta-love hero, he’s a little bit shyer than most. He’s happy to do what he needs to to get his woman, but doesn’t really know what to do when he thinks he’s being rebuffed.
They’re a nice couple and it was cute to watch them fumble around with each other – neither comfortable with how to turn their crush into something more. And it’s hot – obviously – with our pair’s inexperience having no bearing on their enthusiasm.
You know what you’re getting with an insta-love story – and it’s a formula that I enjoy. This story just didn’t give me anything extra to give it a higher star rating. But it was still a fun and cute read that doesn’t take long to give you that little romantic hit. It’s not the best in the series but still worth picking up if you’re reading the series or are a fan of Shaw Hart. 3 stars.
