Review: Rescued by the Rebel by Shaw Hart

He’ll do anything for her.

I’m a dog person.
So, how did I wind up fostering fifteen cats?
The answer to that is Winnie Mae.
She runs the local animal shelter and when someone starts a fire there, I rescue her and the cats.
When she told me that they had nowhere else to go, I volunteered to take them.
Why would I do that?
Well, because I’m in love with Winnie.
Now I need to keep my woman safe… and convince her that she’s meant to be mine.

Fun, opposites attract insta-love romance

4 stars

I always enjoy a short, sweet and sexy read from Shaw Hart so this tale of a smitten, rough and ready motorcycle man brought to his knees by a sweet, animal loving loner, was an easy choice for me. This is part of the multi-author Rebel Hearts MC series which aims to be light on the angst but heavy on the steam and romance! This story stands completely alone with an HEA.

Aldis fell for Winnie Mae the moment she arrived in town and opened her animal shelter. He knows that she’s the one for him. And everyone else around him knows, too. All except Winnie herself. When her business suffers an arson attack, Aldis makes his move to sweep in, save the day and hopefully make Winnie fall as much for him as he has for her.

Both Winnie and Aldis were likeable characters and I thought the development of their feelings and their romance was well-paced and believable. Well, this is an insta-love story and only 80 pages long so it’s always going to be within a shorter timescale. Our couple seem like opposites but also the perfect pairing and I admit to finding them so adorable as they cooked for each other and with just how smitten but shy Aldis was.

“… I understand, I too enjoy low prices.”

I’m not normally a fan of MC (motorcycle club) romances but it’s not a hard no so I’ll always overlook it for the sake of a good story. In this case, the MC element is very light. Aldis is the President of the Club and they do have meetings and have each other’s backs. Other than that, there’s really not much there to offend if MC isn’t your thing. Oh but the mention of Aldis going to church did throw me for a loop. I just assumed he was going to actual church until I looked it up. Strange.

One thing I can’t help but mention is the hero’s name. I’ve looked it up and it’s a legitimate, Old English name, and all was well until it came to the sex scenes. When Winnie started screaming out our hero’s name at the height of passion – all I could think about was the supermarket. It hilariously took me out of the moment each time but I understand, I too enjoy low prices.

If you’re a fan of insta-love stories with a slightly obsessive hero and a heroine that deserves to be worshipped, then this will tick all your boxes. It’s well-written, engaging and has just enough heat to give that extra sizzle to your day. A fun and enjoyable read that I didn’t want to put down.
