I’m her brother’s best friend, and for the past ten years, I’ve also been Addison McKenzie’s dirty little secret.
My pro-hockey player lifestyle kept me from her, but I thought we had a good thing going. Burning up the sheets whenever I visited home worked well for us.
Or so I thought.
When a season-ending injury sends me back to Starlight Cove, I find out she thinks of me as nothing more than a mistake.
She’s trying her hardest to ignore my presence, but being snowed in together is making that difficult.
So is sharing a bed.
Old habits die hard, and it’s no surprise we fall right back into each other. Undeniable chemistry was never our problem, though. Making it last in the real world was.
But I’ve been in love with Addison for years. And I have no intention of giving up on us now.

Sexy, readable and satisfying
I’m becoming a little obsessed with Brighton Walsh and more specifically, with the McKenzie family of Starlight Cove. This is book 5 and it’s finally time for the only sister – snarky, snappy Addison – to get her happily ever after. You definitely don’t need to have read any of the other stories to read and enjoy this one. But you should read them anyway!
Addison is a task master – running her family’s resort like the little dictator her brothers’ call her. She’s efficient, stressed and not someone you want to mess with. In previous books, I’ve not been fully onboard with her, I’ll admit. Probably because her snakiness reminds me of me! But in this story, all her layers were revealed and she became a well-rounded, likeable character that you couldn’t help but root for. But she never lost that snark!
If there ever was a hero that was all-in for a heroine, then Chase is your man. Addison is his girl from page 1 and that made me full-on swoon. He’s not a creep about it, though. He understands Addie like no-one else does. And her moods, her snark, her sass – he loves every single bit of her. And he knows just how to deal with her. While anyone would love their very own Chase in their life, he was well and truly Addison’s man. As I said – swoon!
Brighton Walsh is queen of the sexy times so it’s no surprise that Chase and Addie have their own special kind of chemistry. It’s hot! They strike sparks off each other but not just in a sexual way. They just work together and there’s a special kind of energy humming around the pair that made me a little giddy. And while the sex does take a little longer in coming (no pun intended) than in previous books, it’s still a lot sexy, a little messy, a little sweaty and a whole lot of amazing!
There’s obviously other things going on in the book. Addison feeling’s towards her brothers and how they’re running the resort; Chase’s knee and ultimately his decision about returning to play pro-hockey; Addison’s father; and the general shenanigans around the town of Starlight Cove. (We also get a teeny tiny glimpse into the next book – Levi’s story – and I. Am. Hooked!) But ultimately this story is all Chase and Addison. It’s the story of how they figured everything out and got their happily ever afters. Everything else is just background to that.
Brighton Walsh is an excellent storyteller and this story is no exception. This is an easy book to read and an easy book to fall in love with. I always know a story is particularly good when I forget that it’s a book I’ve been reading and start to tell people what’s been happening in the book as if it’s happening to people I know. And then comes the inevitable book hangover. All in all, I loved this book. It was easily the best book I’ve read so far this year and it’s one I would definitely recommend.
* I received this book in exchange for my honest review
Award-winning USA Today and Wall Street Journal bestselling author Brighton Walsh spent nearly a decade as a professional photographer before taking her storytelling in a different direction and reconnecting with her first love: writing. When she’s not lost in her own made up worlds, she’s probably either reading or shopping—maybe even both at once. She lives in the Midwest with her real life hero of a husband, her two kids—both taller than her—and her dog who thinks she’s a queen. Her boy-filled house is the setting for dirty socks galore, frequent dance parties (okay, so it’s mostly her, by herself, while her children look on in horror), and more laughter than she thought possible.
