Top Tip: Don’t put out an online ad offering your services as a fake date. Someone will take you up on it.
And it won’t just be for one night.
And that, ladies and gentlemen, is how I ended up being Mason Jackson’s fake girlfriend.
He didn’t even want me to be. No—his sister was solely responsible for me being his date for his ten-year high school reunion.
Now, she’s responsible for telling his parents our relationship is real.
We have no choice. We have to act like this isn’t all a mistake, like it’s not all fake, like we’re totally, completely, utterly, head-over-heels in love with each other.
Simple, right?
Wrong.

Fantastically funny
I’ve enjoyed other Emma Hart books that I’ve read but this one just made her an auto-buy author for me.
The Accidental Girlfriend is a standalone novel that’s fairly short – at 258 pages – but it really packs a punch.
Fed up of being taken to task for being single, a drunken sesh with her friends leads Lauren to post an ad on the internet advertising her services as a fake date. No money involved! In a roundabout way, that’s where Mason comes in, looking for a date for his high-school reunion.
So while it’s a well-used plot of a fake relationship – from the get-go, it’s got something different. It never feels like something you’ve read before. It’s fresh, interesting and it’s absolutely hilarious. Seriously – I don’t remember another book where I’ve highlighted so much of the text – or laughed so hard at the brutally honest, yet still hysterical comments, wit and banter.
Lauren is my spirit animal. She’s the kind of character that is honest, snarky, sarcastic and confident – and she’s written in a way that you just want to be her. I can imagine it’s very hard to write a heroine with those attributes that readers will actually like. Ms Hart didn’t just do that for me – because I LOVED Lauren. I want to be Lauren.
And Mason was the same. He was funny, sexy and the perfect partner and foil for Lauren. They just worked as a pair, along with having wonderful chemistry. Due to “the rules” there was a long time before the pair gave into their feelings for one another – but it was a ride full of sexual tension and, sure, frustration. For Mason, Lauren and myself! The sex was also fantastic in the book but, as we would expect, also damned funny.
There wasn’t a thing about this book that I didn’t enjoy. And not to get all deep and shit, but it really has a positive message about finding the right person to love the real you – sarcasm, sass and all. But if you go for misbehaving OAPs, asshole cats, wickedly funny banter all wrapped up in a sexy, romantic bow – then I cannot recommend this book highly enough to you.

Yes, really. She’s that sarcastic.
