Sweet and uplifting romance
This is the second book in the Vested Interest: ABC Corp series after My Saving Grace. This series is a spin-off featuring the next generation of the Vested Interest series which is also connected to the Contract books. Yep, a little confusing if you haven’t read any of the previous books…but, I have only read My Saving Grace and I was fairly unconfused by the large, convoluted family. And anyway, we’re here for Ronan and Beth so although Ronan’s family are a key part of his life, what I’m basically saying is you can read this as a standalone.
From the very first, I fell in love with Ronan. If you’ve ever felt like you’re not really seen, or that you’re just part of the background, you’ll feel for Ronan. He’s a hot, large, sweet and sexy man but I just wanted to give him a big ol’ hug. Luckily, he has Beth for that. He meets her at the diner where she works and there’s an instant spark for both of them. It was believable and sweet.
Beth herself was an equally enjoyable character. She works hard and doesn’t want any hand outs but she definitely has a connection with Ronan. I loved the way she didn’t let Ronan take care of her yet she wasn’t stupid enough to say no to him just because of her pride. She was a believable character and I liked her a lot.
Together, the pair were super sweet yet hot at the same time. It was like watching two people who were meant to be together, figure out how they were going to make things work to be together. There was a lot of kissing and while it built up to the sex, it was nice and hot when they did get there. I loved them as a pair and felt they were a perfect fit.
We get a few secondary characters in this one, mostly the children, Evan and Lucy, and Beth’s roommate, Paige. While Paige has her own little romance in this book, I’m pleased to see we’re going to see it in full when she gets her own book. Yay for extra romances!
Melanie Moreland continues to delight me with her heartfelt, happy romances. You really dive into the story and she brings you all the feels with none of the angst. I beginning to love this new family that I’ve recently discovered and Ms Moreland is fast becoming a reliable, go-to author for a sweet and sexy true-love romance. The men are strong and protective, the woman are brave and independent and their love stories are perfectly swoon-worthy. 4 stars for this story – really 4.5 stars – and a really enjoyable tale.
New York Times/USA Today bestselling author Melanie Moreland, lives a happy and content life in a quiet area of Ontario with her beloved husband of twenty-seven-plus years and their rescue cat, Amber. Nothing means more to her than her friends and family, and she cherishes every moment spent with them.
While seriously addicted to coffee, and highly challenged with all things computer-related and technical, she relishes baking, cooking, and trying new recipes for people to sample. She loves to throw dinner parties, and also enjoys traveling, here and abroad, but finds coming home is always the best part of any trip.
Melanie loves stories, especially paired with a good wine, and enjoys skydiving (free falling over a fleck of dust) extreme snowboarding (falling down stairs) and piloting her own helicopter (tripping over her own feet.) She’s learned happily ever afters, even bumpy ones, are all in how you tell the story.

Excerpt:
“Jesus, you’re sexy.” I spoke without thinking.
“Me?” she asked, sounding incredulous.
“Yes. Your curls, your curves, your smile. You’re so beautiful, and you have no idea, which makes you even more so in my books.”
She blinked, looking startled. “I had no idea you felt that way.”
I leaned forward, taking her glass from her fingers, setting it on the table, then dragging her onto my lap. I covered her mouth with mine and kissed her. I plunged one hand into her curls I loved so much, smoothing the silky strands between my fingers, and used my other arm to hold her tight. She opened for me, and I explored her, the crisp taste of the wine still lingering on her tongue. I only meant to kiss her once and let her return to her corner, but now that I had her in my arms, I didn’t want to let her go. I kissed her harder, delving my tongue into her mouth and finding all the sweet ridges, the smoothness of her teeth, the velvet feel of her tongue in my quest. She returned my caresses with enthusiasm, pressing herself closer, her legs splaying over mine so she straddled me. She wove her fingers into my hair, tugging and pulling, teasing the nape of my neck, making me hiss in pleasure. I was hard with desire for her, and I let her feel it. I wanted her to know how much she turned me on. When our mouths separated, I dragged my lips to her ear, after worshiping the smooth skin of her cheek and neck. “Beautiful,” I stated firmly.
She blinked at me, her dark eyes wide in her face. “I think you’re the sexiest man I have ever seen.” She ran her hands over my arms. “I have never met anyone like you. So strong and masculine, yet so sweet and amazing.” She swallowed. “You make me feel safe, Ronan.”
“You are always safe with me. Always.”
She bit her lip, glancing down between us. “You’re, ah, large everywhere.”
I chuckled. “All to make you smile, little bird.”
“Well, you do that just fine,” she responded.
