Review: Loved by Liam by Melanie Moreland

Liam Callaghan is happy with the way things are. He has a successful business, a family he loves, and a life he thinks is fulfilling and complete. Until a favor for his brother brings him to her. She sparks something inside him.
Something he had no idea he was missing. One touch and he knows Paige Winters is the woman he wants. She and her daughter become his focus. His world. He only has to convince her to believe in them.

Liam entered Paige’s life quietly, but from the moment he took her hand, her world exploded. Larger-than-life, he stepped in, brightening her days and filling her with happiness. But she has more than her own heart on the line. Her daughter, Lucy, has to come first. As much as her soul yearns for him, can she trust his words?

Can the seeds love plants take root and bloom, growing over the past? If Liam has anything to do with it, they will.

A sweet, satisfying, happy time

Liam is one of the successful Callaghan Brothers and part of the next generation from the couple’s from Melanie Moreland’s Vested Interest series. This is the third book in the spin-off ABC Corp series after My Saving Grace and Finding Ronan’s Heart. I’ve never read the Vested Interest series and I get along just fine with these books. However, I have read the previous ABC books and while this book technically does stand alone, I honestly don’t think you’ll enjoy it as much if you haven’t read Finding Ronan’s Heart first.

That’s partly because Liam and Paige first featured in Finding Ronan’s Heart. Liam is Ronan’s brother and Paige is Beth’s best friend and roommate. Liam and Paige got together very much on the sidelines of Ronan and Beth’s story and we got absolutely no detail. They weren’t supposed to get their own story but they just cried out for their story to be told – and thankfully Ms Moreland delivered.

Paige is a strong single mum and she has a nice side of sass to go along with her personality. But she’s also got a (completely understandable) fear of getting in a relationship, falling in love and putting her trust in someone. So when Liam shows up, looking like a big, sexy walking fantasy – and saying and doing all the right things – Paige is maybe a little bit slower than Liam to get with the programme.

“…sweet, satisfying and just a happy time..”

For his part, Liam pretty much is the perfect man. Seriously, he’s all in for Paige and her daughter, Lucy, and while he wants to go super fast with their relationship, he’s understanding and patient for her sake. And while he’s there to protect and stand-up for Paige, he also lets her fight her own battles, believing in her strength. I actually can’t believe I’m going to say this but…perhaps he was too perfect! He was the unicorn man of unicorn men! Not sure he even farted!

The pair have great chemistry and while it’s definitely steamy, the whole vibe for me was more of a sweetness than a blistering heat. I think that’s partly because I felt this book read like a super long epilogue. Sure it documented the relationship of Paige and Liam (and Lucy) but there was zero angst and it was mostly good things happening, Paige and Liam having a wonderful time, and sunshine and roses. Now that’s not a complaint, but it’s the reason why I feel that people who have yet to read Finding Ronan’s Heart won’t enjoy it as much as those that have.

I’m not a super angsty kind of girl (at least not in my reading life!) but I perhaps would have liked a bit more action or some sort of will they-won’t they in terms of the relationship before our HEA. And, darn it, I didn’t really like the epilogue with the boys. There was nothing bad about it, but I just didn’t like it. That’s all.

So, if you’ve read Finding Ronan’s Heart and wanted to read about Paige and Liam, this is your book. It’s sweet, satisfying and just a happy time. 4 stars.

New York Times/USA Today bestselling author Melanie Moreland, lives a happy and content life in a quiet area of Ontario with her beloved husband of twenty-seven-plus years and their rescue cat, Amber. Nothing means more to her than her friends and family, and she cherishes every moment spent with them.

While seriously addicted to coffee, and highly challenged with all things computer-related and technical, she relishes baking, cooking, and trying new recipes for people to sample. She loves to throw dinner parties, and also enjoys traveling, here and abroad, but finds coming home is always the best part of any trip.

Melanie loves stories, especially paired with a good wine, and enjoys skydiving (free falling over a fleck of dust) extreme snowboarding (falling down stairs) and piloting her own helicopter (tripping over her own feet.) She’s learned happily ever afters, even bumpy ones, are all in how you tell the story.
