Sometimes you have to face the past for a second chance at a future.
The plan was to get in and out, but I knew returning home wouldn’t be easy. Especially when I’m about to drop a truth on my parents that I’m not going for my PHD.
My grandparents will be celebrating their fiftieth wedding anniversary, and I can’t miss out on the celebration, even if that means heading back to my hometown after I’ve been away almost a decade.
I didn’t plan on running into my ex, but when I see him in town, old feelings I thought I’d long since buried come right back. Too bad we didn’t part on good terms, and he’s nothing but cold and grumpy to me from the moment our paths cross.
I should do what I came here to do and go, but when I’m forced to look at the past, I realize this might be the opportunity to do things differently this time.
Can I find the courage to stand up to my parents and admit that the life they planned for me isn’t what I want? And will my first love give me a second chance at a future?

Simply sweet and sexy
I have a number of Lana Dash’s stories on my Wishlist but this is the first time I’ve read anything of hers. What I wanted and expected was a cute and sexy insta-love style story that was low on angst and so sweet my teeth would ache. And I’m delighted that was exactly what I got.
Bellamy returns to her home town determined to finally forge her own path and move away from the control her parents exert over her life. She knows she’ll bump into her ex, Aiden, and hopes that he’ll listen to her when she explains her previous decisions – and perhaps even gives her a second chance.
Bellamy – or Belle as she’s known – was a likeable character even though she was obviously influenced and ruled by her parents. She was funny, sweet and the perfect heroine for this kind of tale.
Similarly, Aiden was exactly the kind of hero we want in this kind of story. He’s completely besotted with Belle and yearns for her so badly. But he shows it with a proper grumpiness that makes me giddy!
Although this is obviously an insta-love style story our characters are actually already in love with each other at the start of the book. Bloody love me a second-chance romance. But it’s definitely got that low-angst, simple storyline that’s perfect for the 50 or so pages of this tale. There’s still sexy times which I’m always happy to see. On a pier, no less! Ooh-er!
I loved Lana Dash’s writing style and although easy to read, I was absolutely charmed with her storytelling. This story gave me everything I wanted and left me with that happy, satisfied feeling that you can only get with a quickie romance.
But…I obviously didn’t give this 5 stars despite enjoying it very much. Why? So. Many. Grammatical. Errors. It was so annoying and so distracting. And nothing that an editor couldn’t tidy up in a hot minute. Just little instances of extra words, incorrect grammar and missing words. It really shouldn’t happen and it grated enough for me to drop a star. Despite this, it was still a quick shot of romance and I will definitely look out for more Lana Dash in the very near future.
Lana Dash writes short, sweet, steamy romances that will leave you swiping for more. From blue-collar bad boys to rugged mountain men, you will find a book boyfriend to swoon over in the span of your hour-long lunch break.
